Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Hydrating Longwear Foundation

Copied from fentybeauty.com

A first-of-its-kind hydrating longwear foundation that delivers it all, with comfortable medium to full coverage, serious staying power, and natural finish perfect for normal to dry skin—all in a groundbreaking range of 50 shades.

Pro Filt’r fans have spoken, and Rihanna has listened. For the first time ever, medium to full coverage meets serious longwear in a hydrating foundation, with a perfectly smooth, natural finish that lets skin look like skin. We’re talking natural—not dewy—like your skin just had a must-needed drink of water.

Recognizing the need for a hydrating Pro Filt’r formula that normal to dry skin types will love, Rihanna created this foundation with Grape Seed Oil and Sodium Hyaluronate to give skin the nourishing hydration it needs to stay comfortable all day. Longwear, coverage, and hydration: Now you can have it all in 50 shades—each delivered in a portable tube that makes it easy to take with you wherever you go.

Just like the original Pro Filt’r, Pro Filt’r Hydrating Longwear Foundation has a sweat and humidity resistant formula that easily builds to medium to full coverage, instantly evening out skin without clogging pores or settling into fine lines. Plus, the longwearing, light-as-air texture is undetectable on skin—so you always look like you.

Having tried the original Pro Filt’r which I loathed, I was hesitant to try this foundation when it first came out. I’ve heard good reviews about it and some of my friends were suggesting it to me, telling they knew I would love it. Still, I was not moved by the glowing praises. I didn’t feel compelled to walk into Sephora and get it myself - mainly because I’m a lazy bitch. Until one day, I received an email from Fenty Beauty saying they wanted to send me the foundation. And so I said yes and gave it a try.

I didn’t instantly fell in love with it. In fact, I hated it. I tried it on for the first time during a facebook live and absolutely hated it. My initial reaction was, what the fuck is this mess. I hated how it looked on my skin. It looked heavy, it was difficult to blend and it felt dry. Basically the complete opposite of what it says out to do.

I gave it another try… and it has since become my go-to foundation.

Turns out, I didn’t apply it correctly. I was so used to applying foundation how I normally would; slather it all over my face and then, blend it out. Worked with most of my other favourite foundations so I thought it would be the same with this one. Wrong.

How to apply Fenty Pro Filt’r Hydrating Longwear Foundation the right way:

  1. Squeeze some on the back of your hand

  2. Dot it all over on ONE side of your face

  3. Blend it out

  4. Move to another side

  5. Repeat step 1 - 4

You need to work in sections. The foundation dries up rather quickly so if you just slather everything on your face like the idiot that I was, the foundation will become dry once you reach to the second and third part of your face.

The website claims that the foundation is/has:

  • natural finish

  • not dewy

  • for normal to dry skin

  • hydrating

  • sweat and and humidity resistant formula

  • medium to full coverage

  • doesn’t clog pores on settle into fine lines

  • ligh-as-air texture

Believe it or not, the foundation really does check off all of those boxes.

The foundation gives a natural finish and although it has the word hydrating in the name, it does not look dewy on the skin. It really is hydrating without giving you that oily luminous look. Your skin looks healthy. It looks like how it’s supposed to look. The foundation looks good even after a whole day of activities under the intense weather in Malaysia. I can wear this foundation for more than 12 hours and not having to worry about it breaking up on the skin or looking blotchy. It doesn’t clog up my pores and it doesn’t settle into fine lines. It does feel light on the skin. It’s a liquid foundation that is more on the watery side but not too watery. Once it’s on your skin and you blend it out, it becomes slightly sticky and creamy. I never had a bad foundation day with this foundation and I would get compliments from people asking what foundation I use.

I’m giving this foundation a 10/10.
